Our intake is read by a board-certified dermatology advisor before it's routed to a writer. The more context you share, the more useful your personalized review packet will be. Fields marked with * are required.

Review methodology FAQ

The questions we get most about how we review.

Skincare is full of marketing noise. Here's exactly how our editorial team separates signal from story — straight from the people who write our reviews and vet our ingredient guides.

How does Skincare Mana choose which products to review?
Reader requests drive 60% of our pipeline. The other 40% comes from our dermatology advisors flagging new clinical literature, ingredient innovations, and category gaps in our archive. We do not accept payment for review selection — brands cannot buy a slot, and we routinely cover products we don't recommend. Our full selection criteria lives in our editorial standards page.
Are your reviews influenced by affiliate commissions or PR samples?
No, and here's our firewall. Our writers never know whether a product was purchased by us, sent as a no-strings PR sample, or sourced through a retail partner — that information is held by the editor-in-chief only. When we do earn an affiliate commission (currently through two retailer programs, disclosed on every page they appear), it never affects the rating. We turn down sponsored posts and "preferred partner" placements, period.
Who actually signs off on a review before it goes live?
Every product review passes through three checkpoints: a senior beauty editor for voice and accuracy, a cosmetic chemist for INCI verification and formulation context, and one of our four board-certified dermatology advisors for clinical claims. Their names appear at the top of every review they sign off on. If a product makes a claim we can't substantiate, it gets cut — not softened.
I'm a brand — how do I submit a product for consideration?
Use the inquiry form above and select "Product review pitch" as the topic. Include the full ingredient list, your brand's testing data (if available and not under NDA), and a sentence on what makes this formula different. We respond to every pitch within five business days, even when the answer is no. Sending a sample doesn't guarantee coverage — and never guarantees a positive review.
Can I write for Skincare Mana as a guest contributor?
We commission 4–6 guest essays a year from practicing dermatologists, cosmetic chemists, estheticians, and skin psychologists. Pitches should be 200 words max, propose a specific angle (not a roundup of "best products"), and include one published writing sample. We do not accept contributed content from brands or affiliates, and we disclose every contributor's relationships on the published piece.
What should I do if I think one of your reviews has an error?
Please tell us. Select "Reporting a correction" in the form above and link the specific review. Every correction request is investigated by our editor-in-chief and, when applicable, re-reviewed by the original dermatology advisor. Confirmed errors are corrected publicly with a dated correction note at the top and bottom of the article — we never silently edit. Our full corrections log is open at /about/.
